You should have listened to Al

Just a little site to remind people about Al Stewart. The 70s student's Folk Music Hero

This is the cover of a rare official CD, released to his mailing list. The photo is of him playing at the Glastonbury Festival.

Al Stewart is a Scottish singer-songwriter ("folkie") who is perhaps best known for his hit song "Year of the Cat." There is much more to him than that song, though it is generally possible to remind someone of who he is by mentioning it.

If you were a student in the early 70's then he might very well have been in your record collection, along with his contemporaries like Ralph McTell, Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, John Martyn and other modern folk musicians.

However these discs are probably now in the loft and anyway you haven't got anything to play them on. So maybe he is due a re-discovery.

There are a few good compilations of his songs and a couple of excellent double CD's with three albums each.

What's on this site isn't a full discography. It's just my selection.
